Yeah the game could still be requesting a port to be opened to even play on a online server. Have you tried using UPNP in the router settings & then trying to play online? I would not leave UPNP on all the time but its sometime to try & see if the game runs with it on & what port is open for the gam...

Open the extracted game folder & click on the Launch File

For Windows Run : Barotrauma Launch.exe
For Linux Run: Lanuch_Barotrauma

Just a heads up I have noticed the serversettings.xml is missing for the Linux Build v 0.6.1.4??

I had to download the Windows build to get a copy of the ServerSettings.xml file
