Re: SCP - Containment is Magic Mod (V2.2.3)

I was referring to SCP-CIM, but if you helped then sure.

The mod just feels...silly? It's definitely not the same feeling as the one the original team was able to produce, and that's not a bad thing. But it just feels out of place. (Ponies in a horror game is out of place, I know). Before, every little detail was scrutinized, and everything was placed only where it fit best. This takes a more relaxed approach, causing me to spend more time laughing than running.

It's a small nitpick, really. I'm just nostalgic for the good ol' days...

Welp it's been about...almost 4 years since the original mod started development. Back when users like Glitch, Sparks and Destructoid were still active and I was double and triple posting all over the place. So since you brought up the "good 'ol days" (*gag*) let's talk about them.

Yay time to snap into young Mark.

So the original intention, or at least idea I had, involved creating a modification which despite adding elements of MLP into the game, was still suppose to be scary and able to be taken seriously. The problem with that though, was that I thought the way to do that was to give the mod an ultra-serious backstory and plot so that people would take it seriously.

Well as we can see, that idea fell flat on its head. My persistence to try and push this gritty story akin to some of the worst fan fiction ever, combined with some other behind-the-scenes drama, basically left the mod dead. By the time it died, the only thing that was left was a bunch of 2D asset replacements and only 2 actual model changes. It was a piece of shit, and it just became known as "that one game Markiplier played".

And then SCP-CIM's "reboot" happened... Ok, let's address the elephant in the room. It should have been clear to anyone from the start that this guy had absolutely no idea what the fuck he was doing. From the looks of it, he only picked up this mod to try and advertise his own shitty wikia. I mean, last time I played it he still somehow managed to break the game's controls, and I don't even want to get into what the fuck he did to the GFX folder.

Also never forget the time me and Glitch basically hijacked this thread for 50 pages to try and reboot the mod properly. We actually made some pretty good progress this time around, although another person (who went by the name of "Pony") tried to join the team and basically made the exact same mistake I did. He wanted to push this story that made no fucking sense, then when we didn't like it he instantly got triggered and converted to satanism or something.

Then SCP-CIM just kinda took the thread back and never acknowledge the 500 posts of discussion he missed. Kinda shows that he didn't really care for this mod from the start.

tbh I don't really see how you came to this conclusion. 90% of the original mod's replacement were just random assets here and there. This mod is basically 100% more of the same thing, with terrible organization and faulty code.

tl;dr the original mod sucked and it still sucks now. The only thing I don't regret about it was that it lead to the new CB wiki's development.

It is hard to take seriously, and the fact that it's so glitchy doesn't help either. The basics are ok but when you add finished to unfinished work it just creates a mess. I don't remember why I liked it so much, it was probably because I thought it was cute. Now I see it's just models that don't work properly and; DON'T remind me of the 096 Re-Colouring. Still makes me laugh/cringe Etc.
I still enjoyed it when I did, so take no offence.

Yeah, sorry about all that. I was the dooming factor for the mod, and I caused a massive shitstorm on these forums. There's no excuse for the way I acted: ignoring my teammates (or at least I had thought you guys were) and basically slapped each and every one of you with the back of my hand when I left.

And just to clear the airwaves, I am Pony. The two accounts belong to the same person: me. What happened was I tried to change the e-mail address for the original PrincessLuna (notice the absence of a space), and completely fucked it up. In my nieve state, I panicked amd created the "Pony" account as a temporary until I could get steelpoint to fix my original one. Buuut that never happened, so I made this one.

For me, those were the good ol' days. It was the first team I had been a part of (no matter how shitty it turned). It felt good to be a part of something like that, and I've been pushing to find something ever since. Fuck, I even tried helping Glitch with his version of the mod, but he stopped responding (this time, I can't imagine why. It was after my initial return, and I haven't caused any shit storms since I intially left. Perhaps he just lost interest).

I admire that you tried to make it serious, Mark, and seriously wanted to follow in your footsteps. Looks I succeeded in that dream, and then some.

tbh that reboot didn't really work out due to lack of well...any people working. It was pretty much a small group of people with no idea what the fuck they were doing that just talked until they lost interest. I don't think you or anyone were a "dooming factor" for the mod.

That'd be like saying the triggering CL underwent when we kicked him off the initial team was a massive shitstorm on these forums. It really only amounted to a bunch of shitposts here and like, 2 angry rant threads in off-topic. Not really as bad as most of the non-MLP mod drama the forums underwent.

See response above. Again, it wasn't that big of a deal. I mean, so long as you never went full-insane like CL did. To this day he still thinks any negative criticism I give him is with ill intent towards me kicking him from the mod team.

Huh....I actually didn't know you all were the same person. Then again wouldn't be the first time I created alts on this forum. ;)

I think I remember talking to him on Skype about it? Like...2 years ago? But that was back before 1.0 came out so by now he seems to definitely not be interested in this mod nor CB.

I kinda want to address something here that I probably negated to mention until now.

My only real involvement with this mod was taking it over as "head manager" and occasionally doing some asset edits. All of the good texture and SFX work was Omniary, all of the coding was Glitch, and any custom models (safe Pinkie) were MrPeanut m̶i̶s̶s̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶d̶e̶a̶d̶l̶i̶n̶e̶s̶. I pretty much just hijacked it to feel like I was contributing to it. It was 100% cringe. You could probably even argue that that was the reason I took over CB's wiki to begin with, which it why I dropped the MLP mod as soon as it took off.

Even then, I don't really regret anything from that time period because it basically lead to me running the wiki + helping out with the game's development. I'd say that you should probably look back on it with that perspective as well.
