One thing I should note about these new measures against the spam bots is that they only apply to accounts created after I made the changes, which means that as the old Spam accounts get banned the newer ones are forced to instead post in threads since they cannot create threads.

Which is annoying but I think is the lesser of two evils at this time, and I hope most of the spam bots simply don't have the programming to post in a thread.

I agree with it at least being better than actually creating threads, since that has been problematic in the past, other than that though. Seems to be that the bot problem is a little bit under control.

Unfortunately it may take some time to see the fruit of our labor, since most of the bot account were registered before I made the changes, some going even as far back as a week.
