I've been playing a few months now... and I'd really like to learn how to make my own ship, anyone know where I can find a good tutorial?

With the lack of tutorials, the best way to learn how to make subs, is to reverse engineer the vanilla ones. Break them apart and check the wiring and see how stuff works. That's how I learned most of it.

A few tips I can give you:

*Submarine editor is about constructing smart, not hard.

*The greater content on your submarine is the more monsters spawn to balance challenge level.

*Replacing connection panel access from "Screwdriver" to "locked" makes it impossible to rewire it, however a wire can be removed or edited by rewiring other devices connected to it, that are not locked.

*Large engines break under water, shuttle ones don't. You can install 2 shuttle engine and one large. With relay components you can turn off some of them by cutting power off if ship is too fast to steer.

*Ballast pumps can be impossible to turn off, if they cannot be rewired and set_state is connected to water detector outside submarine, that cannot be detached or rewired. People cannot at this point press bird in the box to disable a pump. The only way to disable ballast is to cut power off or make power source go through a relay component, that can be turned off with a button.

*Put reactor somewhere on top of submarine, so water won't break it too quick.

*Reactor can work under water if it has 3 fuel rods inside.

*The only way to give batteries power is by reactor or other batteries.

*Railguns can shot more, than one time in a short period, if they have connected 2 or more railgun loaders to them.
