[0.6.1.3] [Modding] creature override issue

I've noticed it's not currently possible to replace vanilla creatures with custom edited ones unless you replace the original xml file.

It seems to work with human.xml to some extent, though. I made new sprites for humans but they seem to revert back to their original sprites when they get crushed by water pressure. humanhusk.xml also seems to be affected by this and cannot be overridden.
