[0.6.1.4][22/11/17] Seven Deadly Sins

Postby Esoudiere » Fri Mar 24, 2017 1:46 am

SDS Envy Series

The Envy class ships are all purposed as escort vessels. They're fast, but somewhat lacking in terms of protection and firepower, and their ballasts are located on the outside of the ship. Whilst this gives additional protection to the crew compartments, the ship must remain stationary in order to repair these externally-accessed compartments.

SDS Envy Mk III
Image

A quad-deck heavy armed escort vessel, fitted for a crew of 4-8 with a total hull volume of 3502.336L making up 28 rooms. Powered by a single reactor averaging at ~4700°C idle temperature. Features a Command Deck, Common Deck, Operations Deck and Maintenance deck. Has 2x fore railguns, and a single aft railgun. 1x Primary Engine, 1x Secondary Engine, 1x Emergency engine. Max speed of 48km/h Includes advanced power control and emergency backup power stores. Often out of the price range for even the larger corporate groups, it's primarily used for military operations, such as acting as flank support for much larger assault vessels when taking out large dangers, such as Molochs and Colianths.

Prototype!

SDS Envy Mk II
Image

A tri-deck medium escort vessel, fitted for a crew of 3-5 with a hull volume of 1627.904L across 15 rooms. Powered by a single reactor averaging at ~1500°C idle temperature. Features a Command Deck, a Common Deck and an Operations Deck. Has a single fore railgun and one aft railgun. Includes twin low-powered engines. Adorns advanced power control. Originally purposed as a civilian evacuation shuttle, due to the increased threat to civilian transports a gun was attached to the fore of the vessel and it was repurposed as a light escort vessel to act as rear guard for civilian convoys.

SDS Envy Mk I
Image

A tri-deck light escort vessel, fitted for a crew of 1-4 with a hull volume of 997.376L across 9 rooms. [/color] Powered by a single reactor averaging at ~2000°C idle temperature. Features a Command Deck, an Operations Deck and a maintenance deck. Has a single fore railgun. Includes twin high-powered engines, giving it a Max speed of 80km/h and a descent velocity of 40km/h within 5 seconds, making it very maneuverable. Often hired by B-class commercial freighters to transport cargo too valuable to be placed in an unarmed ship, despite being purposed otherwise.

Prototype!
PvP friendly!

SDS Pride
Image

A twin-deck light scouting vessel, purposed for a crew of 1-3 with a hull volume of 714.240L split between 8 rooms. Powered by 3x batteries, lasting for around 30 minutes. Has a single fore railgun. Includes twin high-powered engines, allowing it to move at ridiculous speeds (70+km/h, anyone?) Often hired by commercial freighter corporations, the SDS Pride is used to scout out a path through the caves and deal with any small dangers, like Husks and shrimps.

Inoperational

SDS Sloth

Image

An 11-deck long-range heavy-freighter type submarine. Lax safety standards and cheap machinery make it affordable for commercial mining groups, however making it less than optimal for military operations, often requiring escorts when traveling alone. Includes a small dry-dock that often houses small escort submersibles or resupply shuttles. Powered by 2x reactors. Includes four low-powered engines.

Like, legitimately, the entire base concept for the SDS series is that they all look like actual submarines. This one is ugly af. Might move it to the SS series, despite it's design being intentionally confusing.

Under Construction

SDS Wrath

Image

An 8-deck heavy assault vessel, fitted for a crew of 8-12 with a hull volume of 12,595,040L across 57 rooms. Power is split into 5 grids; Engineering, Aft, Central, Fore and Command. It is powered by three individual reactors, having an average idle temperature of ~17500°C idle temperature. Features a; Command Maintenance deck, Command Deck, Control deck, an Upper Maintenance deck, a Common deck, two operation decks and a Lower Maintenance Deck. Has 19 railguns. Max speed of 7km/h+ 40km/h. An outdated ship that has been retrofitted and overhauled more times than it has years on it's record, the SDS Wrath was originally purposed to wipe out the goliaths of Europa: Endworms. However, due to it's constant maintenance failures and overtly expensive systems, many have been mothballed and very few still patrol the seas.
Current Schematics for SDS Wrath (1-10-17)
Testing Phase! (May or may not work!)

Extremely laggy! Even my i7 averages at around 15fps with this sub. It's likely too much for the game to handle, and I'm in the process of reducing it's processing requirement.

Advanced Features! May not be suited for public server.

SDS Inferno

An underwater supply outpost. It's, simply put, huge. It *can* move, but I doubt it'll be able to maneuver through the caves. More of a roleplay vessel. OBVIOUSLY this is not done.

love the scale of the underwater outpost.
reminds me of the luxary liner but a lot more practical when roleplaying.

It hasn't no. Sorry, my motivation to do things comes in waves; That is, I'll spend like a week or two doing something and then stop entirely for like a month or more.

They're not done, but here's the download link for the Envy, Lust, Pride & Wrath. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ianvjpjypo6zm ... s.rar?dl=0 Lust & Pride are untested, Envy *should* be okay, Wrath I can't test because it's too big for my computer to handle.

My computer is powerful enough to use the Wrath. If you get the inspiration to get back to improving the design, please let us know.

I was recently hosting a server with a fair amount of players playing on SDS Envy (under a different alias) and I heard an interesting bit of criticism; "This is more like someone's wiring project than a submarine" This made me laugh a bit, as it's pretty accurate. Doing the wiring is how I keep it interesting for *myself* but not necessarily for everyone else, and that seems to be the biggest concern with my submarines. (The less complicated ones, like Odyssey II and Rhea, are often played more than submarines like the Osirus or Maia, which are more intense on wiring.)

I won't bother changing any of the SS submarines, but I'll take this bit of criticism to heart and start reducing the complexity of these subs, present and future. (Latest update to the SDS Envy removed like, 9 buttons from the bridge and made a bunch of the circuitry invisible.)

Your computer is one in a million, then. I've decided that if it can't run on my laptop, it's too resource intensive. So I'm going to start culling a bunch of the processing requirements, because that submarine has *alot* of wiring. Thanks, though!

Just so I don’t misrepresent my point, I tested it in single player, not multiplayer.

Made the Envy a seperate class of ships. The SDS Lust was renamed to SDS Envy Mk II, as it shared similar design nuances just in a more compact version. Added the SDS Envy Mk I. Updated most designs to have less intensive wiring and require less micro-management from the captain.
