Try turning the resolution down to the minimum. This is usually 800x600 or 640x480. That will increase the framerate.
I did that. I also used it in windowed mode. Now my average is around 10fps.

Even if I could, I can't. It's an integrated Graphics Card in my laptop.

I say it's not dead unless the developer officially says it's dead. And a lack of announcements and updates doesn't count as officially dead.

Just a note for those who care, I'm working on getting my site unsuspended. I haven't been able to keep up with requirements by my host recently so my account was suspended, but it should be back up in 24 hours.
