Removing an admin that barely comes on just for that reason alone seems unnecessary. Take into account that Steelpoint has what we mortals call a "life". And him one day finding time to come back and be active only to see he's no longer an admin would kind of be a bit troubling, don't you think? Besides, less to keep the peace around here is kind of a BAD thing, rather than a good thing.
No one is saying we should remove admin status from Steelpoint. Kirby only brought up a concern of if 4 active moderators and 1 active admin would be enough. CommanderPro only brought up the fact that Steelpoint is less active on the forums than even Regalis.

So to recap the situation, we have 4 active moderators and no active admins. That might sound concerning, but the forums appear to be running smoothly, but that's just what I see.
Exactly. But admins only have a few little privileges more than moderators, so I think that Glitch, Trex, Taco and Omni would be able to run the forums between the four of them.

I'm not buying into that "he has a life" crap. When someone is inactive for almost a year (and no, I don't count that one post he made on that Foundation game thread a couple months ago), you really can't chalk that up to him just dealing with personal life issues. Even if that was the reason, it's not really a reason to keep an inactive admin around.

Subsurface's pre-alpha comes out in 2 weeks, so we'll probably get an influx of newbies.

Well, there are less active moderators than the number i gave. In moderation activity are mostly Omniary, me and Trialtrex21. (more or less in that order)

The three of us have been more than able to maintain the forums through both active and unactive times. (Sucks that it's been getting unactive tho)

I wouldn't remove Steelpoint by any chance. He's been with us from the very beggining and we have no idea what his reasoning might be for his lack of activity other than interest shifts. The fact he's unactive recently isn't enough of a big deal for such a thing. It -would- be nice for him to explain his situation, though.

But, i would suggest promoting Omniary to Administrator, while there's not that many extra features other than being able to have extra parameters for banning and some other stuff, Steelpoint is in a timezone contrary to us, so most of the time it'd be hard to catch him in the right time. Omniary is in a common timezone to all of us, and would serve as good coverage both if Steelpoint came back or not.

Once the pre-alpha comes out, i'm pretty sure it'll still take some time for it to take off, and even then, i'm sure Regalis would be a lot more active during this time.

In the case that forum activity DOES increase to such levels to be unable by maintain by the 3 of us and Regalis. (Assuming Steelpoint/Sparks don't come back, and i think Glitch is pretty much out of the question here. (There will be a completely new forum added!)) I'm sure elections should be mostly handled by Regalis. And even then it's really too soon to be talking things like these anyway.

Pretty much the last time we had difficulty handling the forum was when bots weren't patched yet or some rare popularity spikes. I suggest to be light on these subjects since in the end, it's still some time left before Subsurface and Regalis will probably know what to do pretty much.

That would be nice, but if I may quote something Omniary posted almost 3 years ago...
Omniary wrote:I hope any of you don't mind my say in this, since I'm in question here, but I agree with most of you on the decision to stay a moderator here. The admin team is fine as is, both Regalis and Steelpoint are doing a great job of tending to the forum without a third admin, as I see, for about as long as the forum really does need one, which they don't at the moment. I don't see myself in any higher position that the other mods to be put in this situation, nor do I feel I deserve this thread over any of them. So, as you'd expect, I would agree with everything both Steelpoint and WhiteAce have said.

So, yes, I would most definitely like to keep my name green.
To sum it up, Omniary probably feels that all our mods have equal chance of adminship. I mean, circumstances changed, but make of it what you will.

Er..as you said that post was from 3 years ago, so it's not really valid anymore, especially considering that was back before Steelpoint became inactive and when Irontaco, Glicth and Sparks weren't mods.

Yes. I agree now. I do think that Omni should be an admin

Omni would make a great admin, the only question being if Omni wants to be promoted, which probably isn't likely.

I don't see the point of demoting Steelpoint. It doesn't hurt to keep his administrative status.

I do agree on promoting Omniary, though.

A lot really has been going on in this thread, to be honest I would put my opinion here but I am completely biased and set on my opinion, Omni should probably stay as mod I agree that he is more than likely one of the more capable mods around these forums, like WildWeasel from Zdoom forums they both just do their job well they don't need any extra perimeters they just need to keep doing what they do best, keeping things under control in a positive manner, not a negative one as for Steelpoint being demoted I believe that should be best left until someone hears what he has to say he has in fact messaged me about a month or 2 ago so it is not like he is neglecting his duties and what I inquired into was resolved.
