DirectPlay Problems

I'm having some problems with Directplay. When I try to launch the game, it says I need to enable Directplay so I go into "Turn windows features on or off" and turn on DirectPlay. My pc then asks to restart so I let it but when I go back into "Turn windows features on or off" it's turned off again. What do I do?

What happens if you turn it on, but not restart the PC?

What happens if you turn it on, but not restart the PC?
It turns it off too.
