yeah so ctrl allows you to crouch- like hiding in amnesia.
But what's the point? All the entities can see you anyways.
So can someone explain why for the love of goodness there is a crouch?

I like the run like hell through forest. As long as you put the forest in a room before immediate danger it would really frighten the player for him to get close as hell and him to narrowly make it. It could be like a little controllable cutscene that you have to do something to live. I like the ide...

I go right near to but not in proximity. Then it sets off. I am not killed and I wait 3 seconds to make sure it isn't activating again. Then I run like hell.
