Don't rely UPnP as half the time it doesn't work, Hamachi from my experience isn't the best and they killed off Evolve so eh. Make sure nothing is blocking Barotrauma, that being some kind of antivirus or firewall. Barotrauma uses UDP and the default port is 14242, the port can be changed to whateve...

BTE is a mod and it should stay that way, there wont be much of a divide as you think because the devs are going to be releasing more content once the steam release happens. Going through all the trouble to get BTE into the official barotrauma beta would as etet said, just clutter it with content. ...

Ingame you can set the IP you are connecting to, so set it to 127.0.0.1 to connect to yourself if you are hosting on the same computer.

Connect to 127.0.0.1 if you are connecting to yourself.

If you are port forwarding:

Protocol: UDP
External port: 14242 (default port)
Internal IP: IP of your PC (ipconfig in cmd, look for "IPv4 address")
