Is there a chance of the update still coming out in July if I can ask? I hope, we try our best to release it in July (but I don't really know that). I doubt it'll be released in July as there is only 3 more days left in the month, and we don't have any real indication on the progress of the update.

I'm able to open the launcher, and when I click launch the screen will go black and then my computer crashes. This didn't happen with 1.2.3 so it can't be my computer. I don't think it's texture glitches, I think it's just flickering caused by v-sync. I had the same problem. Open up the options file in notepad, and find vsync. Change the 1 to a 0 to disable vsync, don't add anything extra like a space between the = and the 0 or 1 or you could mess things up.
