Lotims, Steelpoint: Excelent posts. Some admirable principles there.

I was suggesting we get another admin because unlike most of us, the current admins actually have lives and are quite busy.

I think a couple of the mods agreed with me.

This way we have someone to monitor the mods more closely, especially the newly declared one.

OR

A temp admin would be cool too, until regalis is fully back in the picture!

I definitely agree with Lotims. There some users who posted numerous amounts of "VOTE FOR X, Y, or Z!" In random threads under both off topic and general discussion threads.

Godspeed.

Another admin who could devote more time is a good suggestion. I really like the idea of an additional temp. admin, to also be admin until Regalis is back fully. I honestly think all the moderators and admins remaining should message each other and all together nominate people to add as moderators, instead of it being a common vote. Then they themselves can decided who should me the new moderator, and later on if they would like, they can decide about a temp admin. I will leave that up to them though :)

Very good post there Lotmis.

Also as mentioned, I am in contact with the other mods and have drafted out whom we would like to see become a moderator.

On the Administrator issue, again I personally do not see any good reason to appoint someone else to that role, mainly because the Administrator Control Panel contains mostly things that are not necessarily needed and can be done by an Moderators powers.

If a mod needs to suspend/ban a user they can do so, they do not need a Admin to do that. The moderators have access to everything they need to moderate the forums. While yes the ACP does contain some useful things, these are things that are, for the most part, not needed during the day to day moderating of the forum. The only thing that might be useful is IP banning which is in the ACP and not to the moderators.

Also I would need Regalis's approval, especially since an Admin has practically total power over the forums to do as they please.

I feel like the Mod to Admin ratio is perfectly fine as is, as mentioned, an admin only has some extra buttons that you can press, otherwise it's a very similar job, I never find myself feeling restricted in my work, as all duties I carry out require nothing more than the average moderator CP. And Regalis will be returning within the week, so I don't see the need to hire a 'temporary' admin that will demoted once he returns.

Practically finished, just getting final confirmation from the mods before sending a PM to the selected people.

Thanks for explaining, now I see it more from your point of view. Hope the decision making all goes well :)
