How do you know your character in game ISN'T a doctor? Maybe you were a doctor before being incarcerated. You were convicted of performing faulty operations or something like that. secretly you did exactly what 049 does only in a much less graceful manner
The following is me stating my reasons for proposing some ideas for improvement on SCP-049:
I created an account on this forum pretty much just to express my dislike for how 049 is utilized...
Reading through this thread, I've compiled some ideas that I like and added a few of my own ideas to them for my complete proposal for SCP-049.
The following are all of the posts I've quoted. There were quite a few that I stole the ideas from, so for space-saving reasons, I have hidden them. :
I think one of three thing should happen when you find SCP-049:
- 1: He senses the disease in you and continues on as normal like he already does, but with a few improvements, naturally.
2: You can occasionally find him "working" on a "patient". This causes him to stop and start chasing you, brutally murdering you if he catches you. In his document, it says he attacks and kills any human he comes across in the area before returning to his "patient".
3: You can take the cure-all pill (SCP-500) before you meet him (or after you meet him and he thinks you have the disease). This causes him to find you "pure" and assumes you're a fellow doctor. This would trigger another possible ending you can take if you choose to, in which 049 helps his "fellow doctor" escape.
I agree that in his containment chamber, you should be able to find SCP-860. The area you find him in should definitely be a bit larger, as well, and 049 should be able to use the elevator so he can follow you in there, and even use the elevator after he's activated to chase you through the main part of the building (after you've gotten well out of the tunnels, I mean).
(This next part is really only for when he's going after you)
I think that he should be able to walk as fast as 106. He seems to be slower than 106 (but maybe it's just me). I don't mind his zombies walking slow, but I feel like if they sense you, they should charge at you in a straight line, to where you need to dodge them and get away quickly (after all, in the document it explains that instances of SCP-049-2 experience a 300% adrenaline rush when near humans, which would increase their strength and stamina and allow them to momentarily have a burst of speed). 049 should also make a little bit of a charge when he gets close to you in an attempt to grab you, since his arm is already extended, or at least have his fingers/arm make a bit of a grabbing motion.
I think if he catches you, there should be a little cutscene that has him kneeling over you, working on you, while shushing you and assuring you that he is the cure, while you are mumbling and protesting, before you black out and die (right before the blackout, I think there should be some kind of emphasis on your character looking into his eyes). THEN it can go into the zombie phase where you get killed by the MTF. It doesn't have to be a long scene, since you die within moments, but just long enough for the player to really understand what 049 is doing to them.
(This next stuff is for when he thinks you're a doctor)
I don't really know what kind of ending would come about, but I think that if you use SCP-500 before you meet 049, he won't detect the disease in you and ask if you are a fellow doctor. If you use 500 AFTER you meet 049 and he detected the disease in you, then he will be slightly puzzled for a moment, then come to the conclusion that you MUST be a doctor and you simply needed to cure yourself, then will apologize for his egregious mistake.
Whichever happens, he would then ask the player why such a remarkable doctor would be trapped in the Foundation (or something like that) and ask to help the player escape in some form or fashion and/or help 049 escape, too (I'm really not sure how this would play out...I imagine it being a situation somewhat like how you "aid" 079 and he allows you leave through Gate B). Like perhaps he could give you the keycode for another exit or an office or something like that?
Some mock-up quotes for the above situations:
...and then that's where my brain went kaput and can no longer churn out ideas. Hopefully I haven't made anyone else's brain explode from all this text. I tried to keep it organized. Forgive me ;u;
