Sometimes, 173 spawns in a room I'm currently in, and it almost always spawns behind me. Luckily, I have a video on Youtube that shows this happening (Watch from 3:47-4:15, 173 spawns exactly at 4:10 after I loaded the save and turned around):

As you can see, 173 spawned earlier the first time. The second time, it spawned when I crossed the same point as the first time. This leads me to believe it's a problem with spawn trigger locations where 173 spawns when the player crosses a certain point.

Yeah, this has happened to me a lot, usually in the 4 way halls.

I don't know of any way to fix it or i'd help you out, when you come into the rooms you think he may spawn behind you, try walking backwards.
