Sometimes, systems being complicated, or too many systems isn't the best for games, and their design. If you could disarm people easily and take their items, it would discourage people to use weapons. Perhaps the combat system could be expanded upon without damaging the core design of game, but the whole gimmick for me is how simple barotrauma is. Complicated games like Dwarf Fortress never really clicked with me, so the main basis of what makes barotrauma fun for me, is how easy it is to use and pick up. Too many systems would make barotrauma too complicated.
