The Minerva is a bulky Coalition Research Vessel, with a prototype "afterburner" like engine for emergencies, as well as its very own Scalpel Exploration Shuttle.

Image
Aptly named after the Roman Goddess of Wisdom and what many of the top scientists on Europa have - past and present - called their home, the Minerva is a centrepiece in the continued innovations of the Coalition Fleet.

SUBMARINE STATS:

Top vertical speed: 35 km/h
Top horizontal speed: 28 km/h (100 km/h with afterburner on)
Recommended battery recharge rate: 100%
Recommended shutdown temperature: 7500W on both reactors (spicy)
Recommended fuel intake: 4 hydrogen tanks in each reactor
Weaponry: Shuttle medical railgun mounted on Scalpel shuttle, 4 medical railguns mounted around the submarine
Recommended crew size: 5-16
Recommended crew experience: Experienced

The Minerva is capable of tanking a lot of damage, but is a balanced submarine. The resources aboard are fairly standard but through research and cooperation between the varied crew aboard items can be constructed worth much more than the sum of their parts.

While the submarine is fortified with heavy walls, the acid fired from the dart railguns, while dealing more damage than the standard explosive in a shell, do so over 90 seconds instead. For maximum efficiency one should vary the ammunition they use on the submarine.

Considering the hefty power consumption of the submarine, as well as the heavy power consumption brought about by the shuttle the Minerva boasts along, battery capacity is 3 times that of the Vellamo 2. The submarine has everything any job in BTE would need, appliances for cooks, workshops for engineers and mechanics, brigs for rolles, CCTV, among many other things.

THE AFTERBURNER:

At the back of engineering is a non-rechargeable battery that holds 250000W to power the prototype afterburner for 15 seconds maximum. Unwieldy, impractical, maybe even slightly overpowered, the afterburner may be the only thing keeping you out of the abyss, or above the competition...

THE SCALPEL:

Accessible only via cards from a Commanding Officer, the Scalpel Shuttle is considered by some to be the crown jewel of the Minerva. It has a maximum of 7.5 minutes of battery life, a medical dart shuttle railgun aided with a searchlight, on board safety features and an artifact holder, as well as an autodock. In order to properly dock at high speeds using the autodock, one must set the shuttle to maintain position after docking in order to secure the dock.

Special thanks to Strange for helping out with a lot of the testing of the submarine, thanks to them this should be the most stable submarine release I have made yet.
Furthermore, it was ConnorsSilverpaws's wiring guide on the BT Public forums that first made me aware of autodocking being possible, cheers pal.

This sub is really cool, but the afterburners are pretty OP. The maximum time they should be on without causing a fire should be maybe 8 seconds, since I've seen captains use the afterburners and crash straight into a rock on purpose, to fuck up the ship.
