If he's coming back, he'll have to address the problem of the new engine. There is practically no competition as to whether we should do it or not, but I'm worried that Regalis might choose to stick to the familiar engine despite our protests.

It's his decision and everyone should respect that.

Change the game engine to 'x' - While that game engine might look better it is not the one that the development team wants to use and are comfortable with, it would also mean starting everything from scratch. So no.
Not sure if he's sticking to this or not, it was written around a year ago.

I just hope that if the game engine does change, it is something easy to edit coding in.
I'm not here as much right now, mention me on our Discord server if you need anything.

i'd rather go with the current engine, because new engines will be new to me, and will look very hard to use.

hug, the old engine is dead. Just work with a new one. If we stay on the old, we'll never make any good progress.

This.

I‘m perfectly fine with the new engine for SCP:CB, it's up to Reggs what new engine he will use.

That's a retarded way of thinking. Regalis has made an excellent game using an old engine, and I can't think of a single SCP that can't be done with Blitz3D.

An engine is only as powerful as the programmer using it. All you people who keep saying "a new engine would be great and it'd make work easier" should take up programming, work on one engine for a long time, then try and switch to a new one. It's difficult, and uncomfortable. You're all making statements about what would be the "easier" choice or an "easier" engine with no in-depth knowledge of what effort it might include for the developer.

Think about it, if you have a newer engine but stuff all the old models/levels into it, it'll look horrendously crap. That means Regalis will have to remodel every room and model, redo every texture to higher resolutions, and convert the sound files to a more optimized format. Not to mention all the conversion of code to the different engine (most good engines run C++ now, and look how hard it is for that guy who's currently doing it). All the time Regalis is doing this, he could be working on 0.8 or any update greater than the current one.

So in regards to "we'll never make good progress", he's making excellent progress using an old engine, and the amount of effort required on his part to move to a new engine is just plain rude to ask of him. Take a moment to realise how rude all of you sound when you say "he should move to a new engine", without thinking of the effort it might involve for him.

How about that ?
You know you're lying here and there are at least a hundreds of scps that can't be done because of the engine limitation..

How about this and this?

It's possible, but seeing as the game is fine without it, there's no need to redirect effort from new content to aesthetic pleasures.
