Multiplayer isn't maybe the best thing. But Multiplayer Co-Op. Co-Op for 2-4 players. Maybe you are right, that the ''feeling of isolation'' will disappear. But if there was a Co-Op option, there would be more fun, playing the game. So many people would love to have a some kind of multiplayer option. Really. Just think about it.

The FAQ says no official multiplayer. Therefore no official multiplayer. Sorry to say, but it's true. Try your luck with the mod when it's released instead.

11. Do not backseat moderate, this includes pointing out to an user he double posted or necroposted, this only breaks the topic flow. If you notice somebody has done something wrong, report the topic under the adequate category and move on, but if the user is new, try linking him to the rules and move on.

Additionally some people need to make useless posts like this, on threads like this, so that they can get the 3 posts required to make a thread.
