I guess some developers have different definitions for alpha/beta, but I've always thought that beta is a version with all the features of the finished game/software that just needs some bugfixes and maybe some minor polishing.
Anyway, I've been working on the map editor for the past few days and it's now functional. Now I just need to make it a bit more user-friendly and it's done.

#363I'd say Alpha is more or less something like a playable tech demo, like Among the Sleep, while Beta has most of the features planned to be in the full game.
