What do you people think it took to make the game? You think all the platforms, the offices and tunnels, all custom built. No. It had to take hours of hard concentrated work just to make the fucking tunnels alone. And inexperienced noobs would think making SCP-173 took like ten minutes. Guys, I agree that SCP CB should be put on a better engine. Although if Regalis doesn't want to convert to a new engine, then leave the man alone. He's using what he's comfortable with. You want the game to look pretty? You're more then welcome to help. And the graphics that we currently have really aren't bad. Sure, it could look better. But it could also be worse. Take that into mind, lose your ignorance, and be thankful.

Appreciation is a valuable trait. I thought my comrades on this forum were made of more morality. So unless you have something to contribute or have contributed, you have no place to try and justify your selfishness. It is okay to want a new one, but to complain about it without taking action yourself is cowardice.

Ltn Vasquez wrote:I see this as a fantastic idea. The old engine, Blitz3D, simply will not do in the future. I followed the C++ conversion closely and I saw a late video of what the conversion would look like on the game. It looks amazing, and if this is what it looks like as the lesser C++ language, than I bet these other engines will make the game look fantastic.
Also, I understand that the conversion to an new engine will take a very long time. However, this will have to be necessary. A new engine will definitely fix the game up. For example, light. DYNAMIC light. Think of all the ideas that can be added. We can fix the light fixtures, add improved muzzle flash and even make some shadows. The possibilities are endless.
And please, don't make time your excuse for not wanting to convert. We have all the time in the world.
As for Regalis, well there is nothing to be done but to set yourselves some very good arguments and points.
I agree with this. We do have all the time in the world, and now that Regalis is done with his military service, we have even more. I wouldn't mind going a few months or so without a new update while the game is being converted. It's not like I don't have anything else to do. I'm sure this goes for most of you, too. I know Regalis is comfortable with the current engine, but I'd like him to consider the benefits to the game and how it could help expand the community if we were to convert to a new engine.

Hang on. So we're not entitled our own opinion unless we provide something? Like what? A mod? Get off it. You guys can demand your new engine, but there also people against it. And I'm one of them.
Also, Regalis stated earlier he won't switch. So that's the end of it anyway.
The ignorance in some people is startling, even for someone selfish like me.

D: no I meant people are demanding so much but providing so little, like I said before, it is human nature to want more but I feel people don't have the right to keep nagging the developers for one. Sorry if I came off as ignorant.

Ah, I misunderstood you then. But I agree with your statement now. People keep screaming for MORE MORE MORE and it seems now that Regalis is back from his 5 Months of Army they're louder than ever.
But then again, I remember this happening before. I think it was about a year ago before 096 was introduced. Everybody was whining about how the Game Engine is not cut out for all this.
It'll eventually quiet down with the next big update because they'll be too busy praising the hell out of whatever new things Regalis introduced.
Hypocrites.

Alright, if the game were to officially move to another engine, it's going to be at discretion & work of supportive community members. I'm sure that if there was quite enough work done to bring it up to the BLITZ3D version of CB's standards, it would be possible. I'm in full support of working on
the conversion project.

Yeah, even I am working on c++ work for it. Harder than I thought, now I know why such little ground has been covered with this project.

I unfortunately don't have all the time in the world, even though I'm done with the military service. I'm starting a summer job at a paper factory next week (have to pay my bills and stuff), and I'll be working there until I start my studies in Turku Polytechnic in August. Also, it looks like you're underestimating how much work it would take to change the engine. You would have to wait
way more than a few months for a new update.
