Because he said that he'd like to switch to a new engine but doesn't want the effort involved. If someone's already ported it, he said he'd switch.

Project is on freeze for a bit while I finish up some models for SCP:CB and some other people. (But don't worry it's still far from dead).

Yeah I'll always be in favor of a custom engine personally (If it's workable..) using Unity to create a conversion for SCP:CB is good practice for me as well personally. The hardest part I can think of is random generation between interconnected rooms, but we're working on it.

this is my first post here and sry for my bad english, i am German :P

I love SCP and would like to mix a kind of remake with self-cration, so I work in unity just like you
I myself am still pretty much at the beginning and work just 2 weeks off, but maybe we can help each other.
my strong sides are texturing and scripting.
currently I'm working on creating worlds and maybe you could use this.
