IDEA(S) FOR SCP-096

How about we do this: He never climbs walls or jumps down, so we should make him more like 7.1 in intelligence because when 8.1 came it became more retarded and using noclip makes it run into walls and in testroom, try to run across the gap, in 7.1 it ran down steps and up steps... add jumping down and climbing walls, and we should also lower the poly-count to Decrease FPS drop and add a new scene where it will walk around in the lockroom, after sitting for a minute or two... AND PUT BACK THE SITTING-TO-STANDING ANIMATION FROM 7.1! please put those into thought for 8.2 and feel free to add your own ideas too.

For one, Regalis removed that animation to improve the game's running capability so that it does not cause further bugs, and SCP-096's intelligence level has not changed through development one bit. Also, in the official article, it was shown to jump up TO A FUCKING PLANE to kill someone who saw its face. I don't think climbing would help you any. And it can climb and jump, so we're shit outta luck when it comes to this one.

Isn't it a bit sad that he's not even familiar with 096's "official" appendum much?
Although, some parts about my Bro's capabilities are indeed hard to spot.

But yes, climbing or jumping would do simply nothing. It's not like 096 could come after you in just a heartbeat or maybe tear down the entire floor you're standing on (if he's underneath you)
And although I partially agree with the "bring back his sitting Animation", it doesn't belong in the server room.

With 096's bodysize already increased he's become too big for that cramped area anyway. So have him use animations that would need quite a bit of space, would simply end up with 096 glitching all over the place.
For one, he needs a larger area to move in. Secondly, I'm still waiting for someone to come up with somekind of design for 096's containment chamber.

Well the Special Containment Procedures call for The Shy Guy to be placed inside a 5mx5mx5m airtight steel cube. Either this could be completely ruined when the player finds it, or it could be intact but after the player picks up and begins reading the document for The Shy Guy (Assuming that is included in its containment chamber) it bursts out of the cube and runs out of sight.

Yes, I did suggest that in another thread but eh, felt relevant...

General layout could be a raised section that you enter into with a computer desk or two stashed to one side, filing cabinets on the other side, and a staircase leading down to an open area (overlooked by some windows), which in turn leads up to the steel cube. The condition of the cube can be based on the above suggestions.

That wouldn't really work... unless 096 is set off by having his face seen, there'd be no reason for him to burst out of there. And with no visual feeds in his chamber it would need some additional work on the games story to explain 096's breach.
You'd need some kind of photo or whatever , somewhere... to force hin into action.

You know, that reminds me... the actual Document for SCP-096 is still nowhere in the game. I propose we finally get him his small containment cube (torn open?) and perhaps move the whole "Guard event" from those tiny server rooms
to the larger 096 Chamber. His chamber is usually surrounded by countless scientists and such, so it would already look A LOT less cramped. Plus, having such a HUUUGE SCP inside that tiny server room, just looks odd in the long run and won't allow for any kind of roaming.
Maybe you could find the 096 document just one room before you actually get to his containment?

Plausible, but if the Guard Event is moved into there, the small server room would need another purpose. Not only that, but the room also makes a unique challenge in that you have to trip all the switches to unlock the way out, all without looking directly at The Shy Guy who lingers in there. If it were moved to the containment chamber, well...the script may work, but there'd be no additional purpose to approach the ripped-open cube, since the way out would already open. The Shy Guy would quite possibly lose the objective that makes it so nerve-racking to players when they learn they have to enter the same room as it in order to progress. Having it all in the containment chamber means visiting The Shy Guy may be considered optional.

Just to throw this out there, but in lots of Mapseeds the whole 096 ordeal is optional either way and can often be avoided by simply going an alternative path around the whole server room.
But of course, that all depends on the map layout and some luck :)

What if certain other Heavy Containment Areas or certain offices/laboratories could only be accessed by going through SCP-096's chambers (or the remains of it).
And instead of only one guard you could perhaps even use two in the event.
"Hello? Anyone here?"
"Hey, what is that thing?"
"Huh? WAIT! DON'T LOOK AT ITS F...."
*096 starts screaming*
"Oh SHIT! NO..NO I SAW IT TOO! WE HAVE TO..."
*both guards get devoured by enraged 096*

The whole scene can be played off in so many different ways...
