Have you tried installing DirectX 9? I read that it provides better DirectX 7 emulation than the newer versions.

now that I think of it, why was the FPS meter removed? I never saw it for a while!

It was just disabled by default, you can re-enable it in previous versions.

It probably was disabled because only developers care about it.

I think I have a file with a modded v8.1 (which includes some bugfixes made by Juan ), I don't have the original one though

Getting a consistent FPS of 15-20 while at 1680x1050 fullscreen, occasionally dropping as low as 5. At 1360x768 windowed I'm getting consistent FPS of 30 with occasional dips to 25.

OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit (6.3, Build 9600)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz (8 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
GPU: 4GB GeForce GTX 660
Memory: 16GB Ram
Direct X 11 (uncertain if that's even a factor with SCP:CB, but better throw it in)

Absolutely psyched for v1.0, can't wait for the fix.

The fix improved my fps to pre 1.0 conditions (15-20 fps more or less). I think it's the best I can get for this game with my graphic card. At least it's playable now!

That's nice to hear!

I'll make a tool that lets players disable some stuff to find out what needs optimizing.

getting 15-20 fps

CPU: AMD FX 6300
GPU: Nvidia GTX 760
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1600Mhz
Windows 8: 64 Bit
Resolution: N/A runs at the same FPS whether I'm on 1024 x 768 or 1920 x 1080

EDIT: After testing the new patch I now get between 30-40 fps.
