That is what the map creator does, and while if you set your screen to a smaller resolution, things may appear bigger but they will still have the same amount of detail. Using a screen with the right aspect ratio (I have yet to check what it is) would work as a fix.

The aspect ratio is 4:3. The map creator only wants to run at that aspect ratio. Maybe it gets confused because your highest 4:3 resolution is 1024x768 because 320x200 is not 4:3. I don't have a proper answer but I guess that it's because of the coding, which the developers have to fix. I'm sorry that I can't help you any more.

So tried the resolution thing on my PC it still doesn't work...
