That room in general...

After watching a few videos of SCP containment breach to learn new things as I am relatively new to the game, once someone got to this massive room, massive and white all around with nothing in it...just big and white, and yet NO ONE seems to walk into that room...is there anything dangerous about it? I can't see any obvious threats since it's just a huge room coloured white all round :S

Hmm, I have a feeling you're watching a reeallyy old version being played of Containment Breach. That room described sounds like the >v0.3 version of the End Room. It's essentially a pointless room to end off a certain pathway, or a dead-end in other words. Currently, it's a large, red corridor similar to the Gate A Underground Entrance.

but 1 question, do I NEED to go through the maintenance tunnel? It's just 106 being there and everything and i'm kinda too afraid to even attempt to open the doors to the lift...if I NEED to go through the maintenance tunnel, then what is there that is so important? a keycard or something? :S

If that's the only way you haven't explored yet, then yeah. It's not too bad, and 106 isn't always there. But even if he is, it IS possible to out-run him.

There isn't much in the maintenance tunnel itself, but you can get to a different elevator and you'll be somewhere else in the facility.
