What some of you seem to be forgetting is the difficulty present in even creating a functional online multiplayer version. There's no point even trying to start working on how to sync two separate copies of the game until after the game is "finished", ie Version 1.0.0
If you want multiplayer, look to mod makers, or wait until the game is stable before you start suggestion high work game modes.
