i also managed to get the poly count down to 135,000, i understand that's probably ridiculously high still, but this model is is originally planned for an animated series, so detail is a huge part of that.

i'm hoping this may capture more of the "old man" in the old man. :)

Sir, I do understand you need detail, but for an animated series it still needs optimization. It will help greatly with render time.
What I'd do is create a normal and bump map, but that's me, and it's your work.
It does look great by the way, I love the nose.
