I think the orb should be as you made it out on the pictures, there's just something about a spherical orb I don't think will go well with it.

That is awesome. but all the little stuff needs to be scrapped. Since it will probally have a high poly. I suggest cutting out the teeth and the little indents.

Don't worry about that. I'm just making a first approach, this is only the base mesh, so I can sculpt over it all the shapes and details. I will think about optimization later, probably keeping the low poly layers and exporting the HQ as bump mapping. But it will take a while, so don't be impatient

I made this mesh today, and I'm not able to work this weekend (It's physically imposible to me since I haven't got my computer).
I'll upload a new pic when I consider that the changes deserve to be shown
