Re: Different music for different rooms/ambience

Alright, so here's my thoughts on the current situation:

173, 106, 372, 895, 1025 are basically finished. I'll need to go back and make sure they loop correctly and wait to see if Regalis wants any changes (if he want to use my stuff), but for the most part they're finished.

096 is acceptable but could be better. 914 is awful and needs to be remade, in fact I have the latest version in this post at the bottom.

714 and 076 still need doing, shouldn't be hard.

860 and 860-1 are next priority after the SCPs already in the game along with any other confirmed but not yet added SCPs.

If Regalis intends to use my stuff I imagine the question will arise of where modders will get their themes (if they intend to have them for their custom SCPs), in which case I'd be happy to help if they'd like, but they'd be beneath and in-game or confirmed SCPs for obvious reasons.

Finally comes the speculated SCPs, things like 682 and 513, and I'll only do those if there is a reasonable amount of evidence to suggest they or their containment chambers will be in game.

That said here's the latest incarnation of 914. I tried to make it more upbeat and machine-like while still preserving some degree of ominous clangs to maintain the feel of the game. I could use some criticism or ideas here, as 914 is a real puzzle for me.

Hi there.

I made the Ambience for 513 [ Bell Horror ] and If you need any help on creating Music / Ambience, Then I am always happy to help out. :)

I listened to your Examples and they all sound great.

As for 914, It sounds, Perhaps, a little too upbeat. Almost like a Dance track.

How about, rather than loud clanging, the sound of cogwheels slowly grinding along with a few mechcanical sounds such as very subtle banging similar to the sound when the Machine is used and the Doors close.

I tried a go at some 914 Ambience. I will upload it soon.

EDIT -

Ambience Set -

Actually, I find your stuff more dynamic.

Mine are mainly just ambience.

So I am sure your Samples will be used more widely than mine. Besides, I think you've got the feeling of every SCP spot on. Your 895 Theme was brilliant.

Nah, don't be silly. The point was to make ambiance, and you seem to better at making ambiance than me. Besides 895 was one of the weakest really, too many camera noises in too many places and overall it's pretty boring.

The point is that, so far, your stuff sounds better and better serves its purpose. Of course, I never really liked my 106 and 914 was a hell of a struggle for me anyway so we'll have to see how your stuff holds up against mine if you keep making these, which I advise you do so we can compare yours to mine and choose the best so the game gets the best music it can. *If Regalis decides to use our stuff in the first place that is.

Seeing as your 914 is more or less impossible for me to beat I'm going to get to work on 714 and 079 and move down the priority list I posted.

Slagar, please don't stop working on the sounds just because you got stumped on a few of the SCP sound tracks. It happens to best of us and sometimes. Where we might have difficulty in one area of work, another person can bring insight and new ideas in another area. Speaking of which, FireFox, you do very good work my friend. I first heard your 513 theme and it was very well done. I suggest you add your music as well since I suspect Regalis may end up going with both of you, you never know. He just might pick some of Slagar's sounds and some of Firefox's sounds. I will say this as well, you both have a unique approach that you bring to the themes of the SCPs. Slagar, your approach is more cinematic, if I could describe it that way. FireFox's style is very ambiance driven and might I say that you both definately have a lot of talent in sound design. Please keep working on your projects both of you. I enjoy listening to them and I will definately pitch my vote to have the new sounds in the game if Regalis gives it the okay.
