For the gun... Well, they are in a CQB area so assault rifles aren't the best option. I would choose a bullpup submachine gun (it's small and accurate) like the fn "gardener" ht-102: or the fn 2000 (that it isn't a smg, it's an assault rifle): They also look very futuristic

You actually need a gun which is small, have a lot of ammo and it's accurate and powerful.
