scpharrisee wrote:I think that's a good idea, but it would work best with 990 in the intro also. You could talk briefly with 990 in the beginning, and if you beat the game he could introduce himself to you and it would be a fitting end to the mystery (assuming most players won't have any idea who the hell 990 is in the beginning).
It has been suggested a few times that the player should be able to find 990's document somewhere in the facility. So once they find it, they will be all "Oooooh! That's who he is!"

I think that idea is a lot more subtle and less cheesy.

990: You'll have a part to play in things soon to come, what with so many of the Foundation's precious objects loose and no way to keep all of them in... the Chaos Insurgency could use you.
D-9341: What's going to happen to me now?
990: I can't tell you that, but you should enjoy your sleep while you still can.
Hmm this sounds familiar... hehe, but I do like that other people seem to like the idea.

My main question is, how will 990 be portrayed or will he be portrayed at all? It could be more cryptic if he wasn't portrayed, as the player would shockingly discover that the "old man" from the 990 document was the same voice in their dream. If anything, his portrayal should be akin to a static, picturesque image and look very dreamy. The game's engine won't do justice to a detailed model of 990, and if anything a blurry image would be more fantasy-like wouldn't it?
"Yes, it's a goddamn nuke, but if 682 survives and adapts we'd be boned beyond belief."

Hmmmmmmmmmm...... hmm. Maybe we could do animated cut scenes? Like uh... I'll get an example

Ah, this is a crappy example, but something along these lines, but with more effects and distortion. It'd be cool, if we had a talented artist. :D

To be honest, the 990 dream really fits the most in the beginning. The only ending that (even vaguely so) suggests D-9341 lives is the Gate A one. I still feel this one is the best draft anyways.

990: Take it in... peace. It's a luxury.

[SCP-990 turns to face D-9341]

990: You look afraid. Why? Don't be afraid, it's a beautiful day -- rather, night -- but it sure seems like day, doesn't it? I guess that's what dreams do. I would happen to know -- or I should, given the amount of time I spend in these things.

[Pause -- Background scene begins to gradually fade into white or black (TBD) over the course of the monologue]

990: You're quite the quiet one, aren't you?

[Short Pause]

990: Alright then, I'll tell you outright, in case my hints weren't enough. You're in a dream, this may be the last one you will ever have, for nightmares come ahead.

[Pause]

990: When you wake up, you will be taken. Taken to a place I know quite well, the Foundation. They say they will have everything under control. No reason not to believe them, they've done it for a very long time now. But, this time, when you go, things will go wrong.

[High-pitched tone starts to fade in]

990: You must stay alert, put survival first, and trust nobody.

[Pause]

990: If I were you, I wouldn't want to wake up. But, unfortunately, you must.

[High-pitched tone takes over and D-9341 wakes up to an MTF agent shaking him awake in a prison cell]

MTF: C'mon! Get up! Get up now!

[MTF notices D-9341 awake]

MTF: You're being relocated. Now! Let's go! We got 32 others waiting for you!

[Player controls D-9341through the prison to the outside and into a van]

[Van doors close and player wakes up in original intro]
I'd like make to some adjustments and additions on this one, seeing as how it's the best one imo so far.
It slep time bunner.

Agreed, this is the best intro so far as well. When I suggested 990 at the end, I meant it to go with the gate A ending, just to be clear. Also, I still don't think MTF would move D class, they seem too important for that, when normal guards could do it.
