I won't lie.
In something like SCPCB, I couldn't imagine anything worse than playing as a character.
It removes the sense of being thrown into the deep end and makes it feel like their being thrown into the deep end...
Voice acting in indie games only ever seems cheesy.

However...
Theirs no reason why we can't have another escaped class D try and collaborate with you.
proctect em from SCP's and get to the end with you and you have an escape goat...
