[SUGGESTION] A deeper role for SCP-008

#1
I just thought about giving SCP-008 a deeper role in the game. Seriously, you enter it's chamber, get the hazmat suit, close the container and thats it! Thats not very interesting. I thought that it would be interesting if you could encounter people which afe infected by 008 in the hcz. And not only in a special room like 049, but free-roaming like 173. What do you think? :) Let me know!
Do you think NASA invented thunderstorms to cover up the sound of space battles?

Hrm, good point, despite the new patch saying that there'd be a use for 008 in 0.9.. I don't know what it is.
It's actually that once you've entered it's chamber, the doors wont allow you to open them and you have to go into the chamber and close the container in order to get out with the hazmat suit in your inventory. But that's not very interesting though.

i posted in the wrong thread -double facepalm-

i was thinking more about scp-008 how it still feels really unimportant yay you close it and get a hasmat suit.... alright then congrats i guess? i was thinking that at a random time after you've accessed at least heavy containment with a level 4 key card that randomly an alarm will go off signaling that there's a breach in the 008 containment room, it states its not airborne or waterborne however it does say If a breach has occurred, incineration and irradiation measures shall be deployed. why not make the incineration and irradiation measures self arming explosives that basically clean out the facility of all "organic" life.

like you'll have a timer that pops up until the incineration cleaning goes off. during this time mtf soldiers wouldn't appear as they've evacuated the facility until the cleaning is complete if you have a radio tuned to the guard channel or whatever you could here them telling all personal to back out until the cleaning is done etc etc.

the only way to stop the timer is to get into the scp-008 room, close the canister, access the control room and use the system override. (system override would be a keycard slot then pressing a button. 106 and 173 would be much more active during this sequence in order to keep the tension up. many of the doors would be locked down in order to contain the breach and give the player some help finding the room in case they haven't come across it yet.

Not only would that be impractical, but SCP-079 denied it when the breach initially happened(The monitor in the control room of 008.)

I think it's more like a big flame cannon in 008's room itself. Exploding the whole inside of the facility might break glass and let out SCP objects like 035(Possessing). I don't think the foundation would do that. Hell, to be accurate they'd probably just nuke the place as long as there weren't SCPs that had to be kept alive like 231 or that might survive and escape like 682.

If it's breached, that means people have been infected, which means an infected human would need to be added in too. I think it would be a specific part of the facility that gets incinerated to destroy the infected and to avoid killing the organic scps, thus the lockdown of the doors.

Prune never ceases to amaze me :D
I think it would be a good idea to have a massive maintanance complex running under all three main zones. The purposes of this zone would be:
- Providing shortcuts between the three main zones to make backtracking less tedious and discouraging.
- Escape routes from hazards such as MTF and sentient SCPs.
- Completion of crucial tasks that allow the player to progress (remote door control objective, clearing obstacles or creating chaos to clear a path).
- Some more SCPs and new hazards e.g: SCP-008 gas could be found leaking through pipes behind a quarantined section, closing SCP-008's canister will stop the infection spewing out of the pipes, allowing you to progress.

It shouldn't be possible to travel from the light containment zone to the office complex just through the tunnels right at the beginning of the game, rather the opposite should apply. At some point in the tunnels, there should be a heavy blast door preventing you going further, and you'd need to unlock it on the other side by progressing through the main facility and coming back round to the door. This makes the tunnels into a kind of unlockable shortcut that is useful for backtracking until all doors have been opened.
This is one of the best SCP-008 ideas I've heard so far. My goal is to make the seemingly useless SCP's good again.
