Here is the idea that came into my head when reading the wiki:

A cut-scene where the "player" find this creatures and then stroking them after he gets a little scare, then 173 comes in slamming the door open and they keep staring at him, while the "player" from the shock looks back and sees 173, backs off and see hes "little friends" helping him out, he proceeds to run away, so then there is the last time you see 173, after a while...

I think it would be a nice addition to the game, since it would kind of leave 173 in cliffhanger, wouldn't it be interesting?
173 can slam doors open. Also, it would be too cliched.
Cliches are ok, as long as you can pull them off really well, just like a magic trick, even "Pen & Teller" got amazed with the skills of a man who did the classic "stuff in the hat" trick.

Sometimes is not about the content, but the execution itself.

The "eyepods" ruin the point of 173. Even if 173 comes back later, you are pretty much left with no later threats(since 106 and 096 don't spawn very often) until that point.

Well, the game is still on alpha, so changes can be made, even though it isn't necessary, even though it would be a nice twist for a change, since they would be the first "friendly faces" you would encounter in the game, due to their friendly nature they could just hold back 173 until they get distracted with something else for a few seconds(mostly just the cut-scene or w/e), maybe they could even just make an appearance and that's about it, just like "Anomalous duck", just to show a wider variety of SCP's.

Well, like I said, it ruins the entire point. 173 is the main antagonist of the game, and is the most encountered SCP. With him at bay, barely any other threats in the form of SCPs will be encountered until 173 comes back.

And seeing a "friendly face" is something we do not want. We want the player to feel COMPLETELY helpless. Nobody there to help, not even an SCP.

Welp, I was just brainstorming.
