Please let me know if this fixes the issues addressed in this thread. I made a few small changes to the testroom code in addition to addressing the MAV, so I'm not entirely certain that the room still functions as intended / doesn't crash.
I can confirm that the bugs are fixed. I simultaneously tested both bugs in each test. What I've done was enabled/disabled intro sequence and saved when text said "Press F5 to save." After all the game intro events finished (173, blinking lights, guard and scientist backing away, 682 roaring, shaking, etc), I teleported to the testroom. From there, I F5 saved again and ran the tests. In each test, I went to grab the 682 note (activating the 079 scene), head up the stairs, and press the DNA Scanner button without the severed hand.

Test results:

Conditions: no severed hand in inventory or spawned

Test 1: not running on administrator, no compatibility mode, windowed, Bump mapping disabled -> no bugs

Test 2: running on administrator, no compatibility mode, windowed, Bump mapping disabled -> no bugs

Test 3: running on administrator, compatibility mode Windows XP SP3, windowed, Bump mapping disabled -> no bugs

Test 4: running on administrator, compatibility mode Windows XP SP3, fullscreen, Bump mapping disabled -> no bugs

Test 5: running on administrator, compatibility mode Windows XP SP3, fullscreen, Bump mapping enabled -> no bugs


Conditions: spawned severed hand in inventory

Test 1-5 showed no bugs.
