Every time I enter a functional elevator in the light containment zone, I get the dreaded MAV. This issue has persisted, despite me running the game as an administrator. Are the elevators not supposed to work? If so, why do the buttons respond to commands?

Did you try disabling bump-mapping?

Click Options on the menu and uncheck the Enable bump mapping box (should be black instead of white), then try again. Yeah, for some reason the MAV bug on the elevator returned.

I used this yesterday and it worked, and then I got to the next elevator you take and right after that (spoiler) room where the guy comes out of the floor, I get another AMV I tried turning on and off bump mapping
