Any time I try to update, the launcher goes through the update process, but when it extracts the files, I get a memory access violation. To be exact, I get the violation when the game tries to extract credits.exe. when I restart the launcher the process repeats. I have done this at least 5 times now with the result being the same every time.

Uh... there is no credits.exe. And from which version you trying to update the game to 1.3.9?

I have the same problem. I updated from 1.3.8

Which problem?

1.3.8 won't update to 1.3.9 because it MAVs on credits.exe (which you said doesn't exist)

Did you tried to download the game from the site? If it doesn't want to autoupdate

I did, and, even though I ran the game as administrator and getting the 2 extra files into the games folder, it MAVs too

Probably something up on your end.

please respond. I want to enjoy your game, but it doesn't work. Please help!
