Yeah, its because Season 3 was a long time ago and Season 4 is too far away for anyone to be excited, and the fan made stuff doesn't have much motivation.

My God, those are even worse than the cartoon design.

The cartoon has good designs. These toys have ungood designs. They're clearly based off the original concept art for Equestria Girls (yet somehow even worse) and not the real thing. We haven't seen the most recent version of the EQG toys, so they might be closer to the actual thing which would make them not nearly so heinous. They would even look, dare I say it, appealing.
