so 2 months ago, there was this "new forum moderators" thread, i saw sparks become a moderator, then i wanted to become a moderator because i can mostly stay on-topic, so here was what my comment said on that thread:
but after that comment, people were going off-topic on that thread, then one of the moderators had to lock that thread, i really wanted to become a moderator BUT NO! i just wanted to be a moderator

Staying on topic isn't the only requirement for being a moderator, it also takes maturity, level-headed temperament, and being unbiased toward a situation. Also, you can't just up and state why you should be a moderator, you have to prove it with actions.

Again, that's not enough to assume the role of a moderator. Saying "stay on topic" doesn't always demonstrate maturity or level-headedness.

Attempt to help all the users (excluding spambots), act in a mature way, do what's right in every situation (if you can), stay on-topic (telling people to stay on-topic is NOT on-topic), make useful contributions (don't just say "this sucks" if something sucks, say why it sucks). I'd recommend having proper/decent vocabulary as a moderator you need to be clear so others can understand what you're talking about. Also, to be a moderator there should be a place for the job. We can't have 90% users as moderators, no matter how good they all are.

There is no official handbook on how to gain modship, as admins' personality and definitions on the expectations as to what it means to be a mod differ from one individual to the next; just be responsible and considerate in what you say, and cautious with certain topics and situations. This does not assure your goal as moderator, mind you, but you shouldn't mind in the first place as long as you're comfortable with your actions and admins mutually understand you or even approve of said actions.

You didn't mention capitalizing the beginnings of your sentences and typing like an adult.
