Bronys... Just so we're on the same page...

No offense, I'm just trying to figure out why older, teenage(?) boys like a pony cartoon that's for little girls? Regardless of sexuality. I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like to know/understand this phenomenon.
I'm not THAT much of a forum-goer, but this forum is the first time in my life that I've heard of a Brony.
I mean no harm, I'm just trying to understand. Thanks!
And, just to keep the mood from getting too stale, here's a semi-random Brony meme I found!
But as far as this thread goes... While I'm an upbeat person myself, I can still have fun while keeping things mature - so let's try and keep things in that sort of tone :) So by all means, have fun with this thread - but please do it in a mature way.

It's one of those things where you have to watch it to understand more so than an explanation. I'm not forcing you to watch, but it'd be a bit easier to figure out why when you've watched it.
I came in expecting a terribly written girls show with pretty good animation. My opinion as of now is more along the lines of wonderfully produced, animated, written and acted show that anyone can watch, despite the very first 2 minutes or so of the pilot are quite cheesy. It gets much better though.
And yes, I do happen to be a brony, if I've let any of you down, well, ponies.

I don't actually happen to be a brony
Unless.. your a considered brony if you consider MLP's animation and stories to be interesting/cool? Is that so??
In all reality I thought it would just stick as a young girls cute toy line 4 years ago.
I was wrong.

Not to mention they also got an amazing song writer and composer and background music maker.
I agree with you that it is hard to explain why we like the show so much and it probably is easier to see it if you watch it.
Have a muffin.

Liking a show is nothing to do with mental deformities. It's just a good show people enjoy watching. Deal with it.

It's hard to explain. The show has good writing, unique, expressive animation, and fantastic voice talent. Speaking for other bronies, I think it's the good writing, pop-culture references and awesome cuteness that attracts us the most. It's an unusual cartoon too, when was the last time a kids show hooked you, entertained you, and left you without a sour taste in your mouth? Most kids shows are so cheesy they make you want to vomit. Also, did anybody catch a reference to "The Thing" or The Empire Strikes Back in part 1 of the season opener? I liked that one.

As others have said its well written and animated, and a breath of fresh air from the immoral and cynical world we all live in..
