I personally haven't celebrated any birthdays or holidays in years, like most people here. My family still does, but even they simply use such occasions as an excuse to have lots of food and gifts.
After all, one can never be too old to enjoy cake and presents.

I've never had a birthday, so I don't know what it feels like to have it ruined. It must suck. In Soviet Russia, fun was illegal, and by the time the soviet era was over, I was used to not having birthdays. This year I might grab some buds and go paintballing. This is the first year since I turned 15 that I wasn't spending my birthday away from home in the military.
