Yeah well the 2000 'end of the world' idea was ignorant, because they based it on the imperfect Roman Calendar which only started a few thousand years ago, (Whereas for the Earth/Universe it's Millions/Billions).

Yeah it would seem unlikely for it to end there... however you would never know for sure until then. The Mayans were supposed to be able to predict earthquakes and other natural disasters, yet we don't know if they actually thought it would start over again( Like a phoenix) on that date or if they were only saying it would be just another year. Although even if we are still living in 2013......

Theres also that part where the spanish slaughtered them before the beginning of a new calender was started.
They also forgot to include the extra day in leap-years, so the world should have ended long time ago according to that calender.

Welp, at least we can celebrate Thanksgiving: The time when the first pilgrims came to America to colonize it and celebrated with a feast.
