If you may have recently heard, Valve just announce SteamOS. It's basically this:
The Gaben wrote:As we’ve been working on bringing Steam to the living room, we’ve come to the conclusion that the
environment best suited to delivering value to customers is an operating system built around Steam itself.
SteamOS combines the rock-solid architecture of Linux with a gaming experience built for the big screen.
It will be available soon as a free stand-alone operating system for living room machines.
Apparantly, the whole system will be entirely gaming dedicated apart from Windows being about business and public entertainment. At the same time, our god has spoken to every major media service you know and love. Soon, they will be online, allowing you to access your favorites in music and video with Steam and SteamOS.

This means more money showers for the Gaben. Even though AAA companies like EA have money pools too, Valve also cares about happy customers too. unlike dem greedy bastards down at Egotistic A-holes. Also, 600 posts :flutteryay:

So lets discuss the new and "revolutionary" operating system here, as a whole. Hopefully, it will eventually be worth the weight.

Click for the page on the cat friendly operating system.

In that case, I hope that you can easily replace Windows with just the double click of an installer.

Also, my computer could finally take the wonderful colors of Pyroland better.

With the disk space I have left, I'd have to delete Windows entirely and get this on an installation disc. God dammit, Fraps.

Use disk cleanup next time.

What would be the benefits of an OS specifically for steam? I'm not exactly going to buy the OS since I'm not a PC gamer, it's very rare I even touch PC games

I suggest buying a new hard drive. One specifically for the heavy stuff like Fraps recordings or servers. Hard drives are around $60-$80, so it shouldn't be that big of a problem.

That doesn't fully answer my question
