Yesterday I wrote a note for my parents to read today while I was at school. In said note, I explained to them that I am a Brony. Today I came home to my parents wanting to have a conversation with me about this subject. They asked me what a Brony was, and what they do. I explained it as a person who likes to watch My Little Pony because of the story, and that they learn life lessons from it. Immediately, my dad broke down and started crying. He had explained to me that he had done some research on the Brony fandom and discovered some pretty vulgar things about this fandom. He discovered that Bronies exist to create pornography and disgusting stories about raping women, young children, and even men. I was shocked to learn this, and am now seriously considering leaving this fandom. I have scared my parents with an interest that suggested that I am a perverted fanboy who watches the show to get a boner.

What I am asking of you guys is your honest as Applejack replies to my questions. Do any of you do as this research my parents did say you do? Are you guys really this perverted? Has what I've been told about this fandom been a complete lie this entire time? Are my parents wrong, and is this really just doing of the small subculture called the cloppers? Can I trust any of you?

Are you fucking serious? You really think the fandom only exists so people can get their rocks off? Do you really think this is true? For fuck sake, the fandom is for people who like the show specifically for the story and life lessons. I'm not a brony myself, but even I know this. Yes, there are people in EVERY FANDOM who make pornography of it. Just because your parents went online and got the wrong idea doesn't mean the fandom is filled only with perverts.

If you are thinking about leaving the fandom because your parents got some false information, then that is very sad. Most of the fandom is composed of people who just like the show. You can continue to like the show for the reasons you did before. I'm locking this to avoid any flame wars.

Just posting to say that if you want to discuss this kind of thing do it in the MLP thread, the two we have are enough, we don't need more.
