Hug, stop complaining about google. Nobody gives a flying fuck and if you really do, than file a complaint to google. Quit bringing it back up in other threads.

Talking about staying on topic. That is another thing that needs to be discussed. Thankfully, it isn't as bad as it used to be, and most of the times it dies off quickly. However, that doesn't mean it is not an issue. I am aware that it is difficult to not move the discussion to something else because you want to talk about it, or because it was barely talked about in one post, but that is no excuse to go from talking about what needs to be fixed in the forums to what google is doing with youtube? See the problem here?

I've had the urge in the past to move the topic of a thread to another thing because of something someone saidwell, seems like I am in fact very narcissistic but before I press submit I re-read what I have just written and realize that it would be better if I just kept that to myself. I see no point in bothering other people just because I want to get something off my chest.

Well, this add one more point to the list.
1. The forums are for the game, don't focus mostly on the off topic part.
2. Don't make pointless threads.
3. Don't write pointless posts.
4. Don't change the subject of the thread unless it is relevant.

Might as well make this the thread for proper forum behavior.

Writing about it on a small forum in which the max amount of people active is around 10 to 20 will do less. When complaining about a new update on a certain webpage the best thing to do is contact SAID webpage and filing a complaint. Not bitching about it on a forum that has nothing to do with it. What did you think, that posting it here will make google realize their mistakes?
The only correct thing for hug to do was to do nothing, (Since google doesn't care about people's opinions, nor does any corporation unless it means that they are going to lose money. Since this is youtube, hug is just going to continue using the service, regardless of changes, and everything will as if it is normal until the next change, then the cycle continues) yet apparently hug just couldn't do nothing, he just rants about how this is an atrocity while something actually terrible is happening in some other part of the world. Congratulations hug, you managed to waste whole minutes of people's lifes, and you barely had to lift a finger, I say that you deserve medal for such an achievement... but nothing grand.

I have added the additional suggestions. I do agree that derailing a thread is something that is to be avoided at all costs. I know that soon I'm gonna get a bunch of "OH WTF DEEZ SUGGESTINZ SUK AND U SHUD FEAL BAD TEH UFF TUPIC IZ 4 SCROOING AROWND AN ITZ TEH ONLY PLAIC I GU ON TEH FOREM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" but if these are actually added(which is a very small chance) then it would only make the community stronger and better.

Very much like the game, the forum is shaped and changed by us as well as Regalis himself. Seeing as various people agree with what we are trying to convey in this thread, and that these are things that are enforced by mods and admins, it is very likely that it will be taken into account and that the mods will try to enforce these rules. I do expect them to be a bit more authoritative this time though, since I don't see them doing too much about it if I'm being honestly. There have been cases of mass spam from users as well as other things and I didn't see the mods act. I am not saying that they are bad mods, just that they could be a bit more strict.

@Hug Do you know why Irontaco made the random off-topic thread?

Think about it.

From what I've seen, a few people doesn't suggest or make anything for the game. But I am not proned to the General Off Topic, I only post anything relevant. Seriously, suggesting or making anything for the game. I mean, Regalis now does other things more than the game development.
The more help is taken, the more development progress is made. For myself, I am doing a few things right now related to Containment Breach. and factory porn mod

But surely, I agree with D-9999.

Currently I just don't have the time to play Containment Breach and give feedback etc, I wish I did but my College course is pretty demanding. And Modding, well i'm not skilled enough to be able to accomplish anything like that yet. I'm getting there in my limited free time though.

I can completely understand that. I wasn't saying that we have to collaborate 24/7, rather I was just saying that we should either restrict the Off-Topic Section or stop using the Off-Topic section as much.

I think this is fine as it is. I enjoy visiting the off topic section, as i did in other game-forums. You have to consider that most of the community aren't modders, and thus can't contribute to these sections. As for the game itself, most of it has been talked over and over or is already known, because the game is no longer new.

When a big update comes around that will bring lot's of new features about which you can write a lot, then general discussion will flame up, i'm sure. But with nothing to discuss, the activity will diminish in the game related sections.

I think Off-topic is fine as it is. It wouldn't help the game related sections if we started to impose strict limits on the OT.

You mentioned that you were active in collaboration and modding. If you need more modders for projects, i think the way to go will be by recruiting them in the OT, as i think it is the go-to place for everyone in the community. It is nice to see that you care about the forum, very cool actually. As long as we have members like you, this forum will not go down the gutter that easily. Thank you!
