Technically you can use an adapter if it has the analog cables for microphone output and for sound input. If it is only a USB, you'd have to get some type of splitter that provides the headset power and splits all the signals coming from it.

Strange. I also bought a Razer Kraken 7.1 around the time you got one. It works fine for me. In fact, my laptop is broken so I'm using my sister's (its eight years old) and I haven't had a problem. If you want it to work best, install Synapses 2.0 and Razer Surround, but even then the headset should work without it but it won't have surround sound. Still though, the audio quality is superb.
