As others have mentioned, fear isn't expressed equally among individuals. While it's perfectly fine to state that this game's characters and atmosphere are the most horrifying to you, I just don't believe that's grounds for claiming that it's going to be scary for everyone or that it deserves the hyperbole it received.

I don't know if this is just a problem I have, but I have a very hard time empathizing with the character I'm supposed to be controlling in horror games. Death in video games has never really been more than a slight inconvenience for me. It doesn't help that the back-story for this game sounds like it came straight out of a B movie.

To be fair, I don't see a very good way of creating a back-story for a game about living, murderous animatronics anyway.

The game didn't really have much of a backstory, other than the previous security guard getting killed and an incident involving a kid getting part of his head bitten off by one of the animatronics. All you know is that those robots are going to kill you when they get the chance.

The bite of 1987 is actually a man who dressed up in a freddy suit and killed 5 children... There are 5 animatronics...

Where did you come across that? There wasn't anything in-game mentioning that, other than part of the kid's head getting bitten off.

Maybe it's a ghost. Nobody except the creator knows. And he's busy with a sequel.

Golden Freddy can kill the player, so it couldn't be a hallucination. As for the poster changing when spawning him, well, I can't explain that.
