haha yeah, have you seen the other games section?
Full of people making a topics saying;
oh HEY GUISE IM MAKING GAME CALLED SCP: ___________
ITS REALLY ERLY ALPHA THO!
If these tutorials teach anything, hopefully it will at least teach the people who decide to make games the difference between Alpha builds and just prototypes.
Re: Want to learn to make SCP games?
#42I'd learn, and try. I have little to no knowledge with programming and modeling however.

#43Simple. Image Effects.DjSaturn wrote:The problem with 093 is that Unity free does not let you do Reflections like you would expect them too.
So a mirror wouldn't look like it's supposed to.
Who said anything about Free edition when the pirate bay exists?DjSaturn wrote:Unity free does not let you...
JK, I don't do that. Anymore.... But I know some members chris0matic who would do such a thing to the new Unity 4.
Actually, I only made ONE, unlike formentioned member chris0matic. And that one was actually trying to get to a playable stage. But Unity doesn't agree with me on anything.DjSaturn wrote: Full of people making a topics saying;

Alpha=Playable, but bare.DjSaturn wrote: If these tutorials teach anything, hopefully it will at least teach the people who decide to make games the difference between Alpha builds and just prototypes.
But yes, I do agree on you about that. I actually called my first SCP-087 devfolder PRE-ALPHA.
Re: Want to learn to make SCP games?
#44Perhaps SCP-087, Exploration IV; the one that was redacted. I know 087 has a game already, but one with an actual story and room for improvisation would be interesting. Also, maybe a customizable character (with options for voice, racial ethnicity, age, and background for + immersion) and choices to make throughout, like opting out of the experiment, or asking about the stairwell. I certainly think it could be interesting.
Edit: Didn't notice the idea of doing an SCP that's already been made into a game was so outlawed, I sorta thought it could work, since it's a bit different, but eh.

It slep time bunner.

image effects won't let you see yourself in a mirror, but sure it's good for an approximation of an environment.
I don't care if people want to pirate the damn thing really, but the tutorials I make wont be specific to them because we would get a smaller audience.

Video coming out soon (1-2 days)
It will be about the basics of game design and what you are going to need to download.
( this is a video you can skip if you already know and have everything I will mention later on. This wil be listed in a new thread.)

#46C-C-C-COMBO POST!
Yep, I was actually going to have a "bitter-sweet" ending where a Chaos Insurgency member who was dispatched to 087 (It's away from the main facility.) during the breach, his job to get 087. He would let the player go if the player could lure him up near the surface.Omniary wrote:Perhaps SCP-087, Exploration IV; the one that was redacted. No, I was going to do that with SCP-087-C, but I let someone else have the name.Omniary wrote: Edit: Didn't notice the idea of doing an SCP that's already been made into a game was so outlawed,
That's probably what ran though Regalis' mind when he made 087-B. I mean, Regalis did something that is now frowned upon. Why?Omniary wrote: I sorta thought it could work, since it's a bit different, but eh.
Yes, as the "character" is a capsule collide. You could make a player model, with the camera just infront of it attached to the player.DjSaturn wrote: image effects won't let you see yourself in a mirror, but sure it's good for an approximation of an environment.
Lol, okay. But, you could do a SCP per video, like show 1 strategy that would help in making an SCP game of a specific SCP.DjSaturn wrote: I don't care if people want to pirate the damn thing really, but the tutorials I make wont be specific to them because we would get a smaller audience.

#47No, it wont work.
If you think you know how to work unity well enough then stop posting in this thread, this place isn't for you, it's for newbies.
If you want to argue about how you think you can create a mirror effect, PM me your argument.
and i will ignore it...

I HAVE THE PERFECT IDEA: take a photo of a real mirror and use it as a texture!!
Just kidding
Don't put the gas away yet...

We would pretty much do that lol.
It would be a mirror that isn't reflective, that's the best we could do... For beginners
