I have never watched an episode of MLP, except for that newer Discord one.

I have to say that if that character is as evil as everyone claims him to be, he sure crumbles under pressure quickly. Seriously he goes from "Going to wreck everything" to a good boy, what is this the Grinch?

Relax, guys. Discord is still the mischievous Spirit of Chaos, he just has friends now. When he said "I swear to use my powers for good instead of evil", he whispers under his breath "Most of the time", which means he still isn't completely reformed, and even Celestia and the Mane 6 know better than to trust him immediately. He's still evil and the biggest prick in existence, but now he knows the ponies aren't as gullible or stupid as he first assumed. He's not a "goody two-shoes", he's a manipulative bastard. If anything, he's only become smarter and less cocky since his last defeat.

Besides, it may seem that his sudden change in alignment was completely random and uncalled for, but just think; he's the GOD OF CHAOS. Everything he does is random, and it makes sense (in a strange sort of way) that his personality and outlook on life would change just as quickly as the day and night cycle in his discorded Ponyville. It would make sense for someone like King Sombra to be irredeemably evil, but when your whole life is defined by utter madness and disharmony, anything is possible.
